Company History Empire Bucket, Inc. began in 1970 in St. Paul Minnesota. The present owner Joseph Pertz joined the company as a welder in 1973. In 1975 he was foreman of 4 to 8 employees depending on the season. In 1978, Mr. Pertz (Joe) bought into the company as a 10% partner and became the manager with 8 to 16 employees. Joe managed the office and did the purchasing with the assistance of one other individual. In 1984, Mr. Pertz bought out his partners interest in the company and incorporated the company as Empire Manufacturing, Inc. The company continued in the building which was rented from the previous owner until moving into a new 15,000 square foot facility in the present location, Hudson, Wisconsin in 1986. A total of 18 production and 6 office employees moved at that time. The company completed a major investment in new equipment to go along with the move. In 1989 a 5000 square foot addition and a 2000 square foot outbuilding were constructed. Empire's primary products are heavy steel weldments, construction equipment, buckets and other attachments. However, the company manufactures a wide variety of fabricated steel products requiring heavy welding. Special rail car frames and N/C machine tool frames are examples of these sub-components built for other manufacturers. Repair and modification of construction equipment is another significant portion of its business. Special steel erection had been another product/service for a time. Growth of the company's bucket business was due to high quality, custom designs and fast turnaround. For more information about any of our products and services, please contact us. Our Facility
